Weekend With Kennedy

We just finished a wonderful weekend with Kennedy while her Mom and Dad were out of town. Kennedy and I became very close friends as she is now petting and kissing me. She kept me real active. She even fed me some of her pancakes for breakfast. She kept Mom and Dad busy also, with Dad reading to her and she an Mom knitting together.

It is real cold in South Carolina. When we got home we some of our pipes frozen. Fortunately they thawed out without any damage. We are expecting another cold night tonight but then it will start warming up.

I know that it has been awhile since I posted but not much happening until this week. On Monday Mom & I took Dad to the emer. room and he had to stay in the hospital for 2 nights. This morning Mom went to bring him home and I got to stay with my friend Freckles, who is a Natural Cocker Spaniel. We had a great time together. The picture that you see is Freckles & me.

This week-end Mom & Dad are going to baby-sit Kennedy while her Mommy & Daddy go away and I get to go with them. Hope Kennedy shares her toys and drops lots of food on the floor for me to eat. Kennedy has a cool yellow slide we can play on, too.

We celebrated an early Christmas with Kennedy and her Mom and Dad on Sunday, as they will be celebrating Christmas in Wisconsin with Sharon's parents. Grandma and Kennedy decorated Christmas cookies but I didn't get any. It was fun watching Kennedy check out then open all her gifts. She had a good time. She had Papa help her out with most of the gifts.

I want to wish all veterans and active duty personnel a Happy Veterans Day. We all enjoy our freedoms because of your service and dedication.

We are currently on a rode trip in Florida. Yesterday we drove down to spend a long weekend with Aunt Laura, Uncle Dave and their dog, cousin Sam. We will be until Monday and then arrive back in South Carolina on Tuesday. We left the RV in South Carolina. We expected warm weather in Florida but this morning we woke up to very cold temps. Tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be warm. Sam and I are having a great time playing together.

A Play Date With Kennedy

Yesterday granddaughter Kennedy and her daddy came to the park for a play date with us. It was a wonderful day. Kennedy and I became friends as she finally got brave enough to pet me. I enjoyed that as she is such a sweetheart. She wanted to go to the playground so she drove everyone over there in the Carolina Cruiser. She had fun on the swing and slide. She also amused herself playing with Mom's pumpkins. I guess her Mom and Dad will have to get her a pumpkin for Halloween.

Road Trip

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. Friday night Mom and Dad had dinner with granddaughter Kennedy and her parents at Johnnie Rockets. They played video games with Kennedy at Frankies Fun Park. Dad was feeling good so we went to Conway-Myrtle Beach area and spent a couple of days with son Dave and his wife Pat. I had fun but was also intimidated by a couple of their dogs. The weather was gorgeous so we spent a lot of time outdoors. It was great seeing Dave and Pat again. Sunday we all celebrated Mom's birthday. My birthday is Sept 9th.

Yesterday afternoon we left Conway and drove to Columbia, SC so Dad could get blood work done in anticipation of his last scheduled chemo treatment this morning. After his treatment, we came back home to Fair Play. Dad has a CAT Scan scheduled for Sept 20th and then an appointment with his doctor on Sept 27th. Hopefully it will be a good report.

We had a fun weekend but it is nice to be back home.

"CAROLINA CRUISER"

Hey folks, I now have a new ride, a "Carolina Cruiser". Mom and Dad got the golf cart last Friday so we can now cruise the park to visit all of our friends. We are having a blast riding around in it. It sure is a pretty ride. If you are in the area of Carolina Landing, stop by and let me take you for a spin.

Dad has now finished his radiation treatments and his second batch of chemo treatments. He goes for a CT scan on August 4th to see what progress he has made. During his first batch of chemo treatments when he lost his hair, it grew back brown and gray. With his second batch he lost his hair again but now it is growing back white. This time he also lost his beard.

We are anxiously awaiting some company later this week. Dad's sister Laura and her husband Dave are coming for a visit. They are also bringing their dog "Sam" so I will have someone to play with. I am looking forward to taking Sam for a ride in my "Carolina Cruiser".

We have no special plans for the holiday but will do some grilling out. Last evening the park we are at had a nice fireworks show. We were able to view it from our trailer. Today we will be watching the golf cart parade.

Granddaughter's First Birthday

Hello Friends, sorry I haven't posted in quite awhile. We haven't done much since Dad is still undergoing treatments. Last Saturday Mom and Dad went to a birthday party to celebrate granddaughter Kennedy's first birthday. It doesn't seem possible that she is already a year old. She is so adorable, unfortunately she is not real fond of me. I really do want to play with her. This evening she and her daddy came to our place for a hamburger cookout. She had to checkout Grandma's fridge before she helped Grandpa do the grilling. She was real tired so they didn't stay long.

Like I mentioned earlier, Dad is still undergoing his treatments. He has radiation treatments every day in Anderson, SC, which is close by. However, once a week we have to go to Columbia, SC for his chemo treatment. We go down and spend the night since his treatment starts so early in the morning. The doctor told Dad yesterday that the treatments are working as the tumor is shrinking. That's great news.

Lenny is no longer part of our family. Some people with kids and room to run expressed interest in him. Since Dad is weak from his treatments and doesn't have the strength to control him, Mom and Dad thought is best to let him go to a new family. We miss him but know he is happy with his new family.

A Weekend Road Trip

Tomorrow we are going on a weekend road trip to Conway, SC to visit son David and wife Pat at their new home. It will be great to see them again and I get to play with their dogs, my cousins, who I haven't seen in quite awhile. We will also get to play tourist in Myrtle Beach. We are really looking forward to getting away from Fair Play, SC for awhile. It seems like we have been here forever. However, I have made some good friends here in Fair Play and enjoy playing with them.

In my previous post I mentioned that Dad was going to have some surgery. However, that surgery was canceled as the surgeons said it would be too risky at this time. It seems the first rounds of Dad's chemo treatments did not substantially shrink the tumor and it is now wrapped around a pulmonary artery. The surgeons recommended that Dad undergo 6 weeks of radiation along with more chemo treatments to see it they could shrink or kill off the tumor. Dad will begin these treatments next Tuesday.

I will keep you updated on Dad's progress.

Happy Easter

Lenny and I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter. We hope no one over eats on Easter candy.

Next week Lenny and I will be spending a couple of nights at the pet hotel at PetsMart while Mom and Dad are in Columbia, SC. Thursday, Dad will be having exploratory surgery to see whats up with his cancer. Hopefully, the chemo had a positive effect and that radiation is all that will be needed. We will keep you posted.

Still Homesteading In South Carolina

Here it is March 1st, and we are still homesteading in South Carolina. It is beginning to look like Spring is in the air. The dogwood trees and clover are starting to bloom. The temperatures are a lot warmer so we can get out and play more.

So far, Dad has undergone 6 of his 8 scheduled chemo treatments. The doctor is very pleased with his progress so far. While the chemo treatments have made him weak at times, he has never gotten sick from them.

Last week, Mom and Dad did take us out for a Happy Meal ride. It had been a long time since they last treated us to a Happy Meal. It was good to get out for the meal and ride. We all have "hitch itch". We want to hit the road and start traveling again.

This coming weekend will be our last weekend to see our cousins, KD, Frankie, Gizmo, Buddy and Missy in Greenville. Mom and Dad's son David and wife Pat are moving to Conway, SC where Pat has a new and exciting job. As soon as Dad completes his treatments we will be heading to Conway to visit them.

Happy Valentines Day

Here is hoping everyone has a Happy Valentines Day and get a lot of Choc. candy. Lenny and I don't get candy, just a lot of love and hugs.
We are still here in S.C. while Dad is still getting his Chemo. He is doing real well. He is getting stronger, but some days he is real tired and then Lenny & I are real quiet and play nice, ha, ha. On his good days he does a lot and Mom gets mad at him and then he is down the next day.

Mom and Dad are going over to see Kennedy Rae this Sunday. She has 6 teeth and is starting to stand on her own. They go ga-ga over her, she is only a GIRL but we love her. Remember guys, give your girls some candy and flowers this week-end.

We will remain in South Carolina for the time being as Mom and Dad want to spend as much time as possible with granddaughter Kennedy Rae.

Thanksgiving And Anniversaries

This upcoming week will be a busy one with Thanksgiving, two anniversaries and one birthday. The anniversaries start tomorrow which is the 4th anniversary of Mom and Dad adopting me into the family. While its only been 4 years, it feels longer than that because of all the traveling we have done and all the places we have been to. Wednesday is daughter-in-law Pat's birthday. This year we are spending Thanksgiving with Dave and Pat and all their dogs. Lenny and I will have a great time. Thursday, besides being Thanksgiving, is also Mom and Dad's 43rd anniversary.

We still do not know when we will be leaving South Carolina. There was a delay in scheduling Mom and Dad's annual doctors appointments so our departure is still up in the air. Of course, the delay does give Mom and Dad more time to see granddaughter Peanut.

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy all the turkey!

Back In South Carolina

Last Thursday we arrived back in South Carolina. Our friends, John and Janet, along with their puppy Holly, also arrived here with us. Holly and I are good friends but she does not like Lenny. He is big and intimidates her.

Saturday Mom and Dad were happy as they went to lunch with granddaughter Kennedy Rae, AKA Peanut. Kennedy is growing like a weed and is such a happy, friendly baby. She is a real cutie!

Monday, Mom and Dad went with John and Janet to the Babyland Hospital in Cleveland, GA. Babyland is the birthplace of all Cabbage Patch dolls. You can see, from the picture, all the dolls growing out of the cabbage patch. After touring Babyland, they went to the Alpine community of Helen, GA and had lunch and did some window shopping walking through the town. We had to say goodbye to John, Janet and Holly yesterday as they left for Florida. It was great seeing them again.

Finished In Virginia

We have finished our two week stay at Lake Gaston in Virginia. Dad went through withdrawal there without cell phone service or Internet service for the two weeks. We were disappointed with the Lake Gaston Resort Park. Mom and Dad had heard so many good things about the park but it wasn't so great. The roads were very narrow and the sites were very short. The park had a bowling alley but it would cost $13.00 for two people to bowl one game. Mom and Dad didn't do any bowling.

Mom and Dad did take us on the road trip they promised. One day we traveled to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We visited the site on Kill Devil Hills where the Wright Brothers had their first flights with their plane, the Kitty Hawk. We also visited Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Roanoke Island. Roanoke Island is the site of Fort Raleigh and is where the Lost Colony had originally settled in 1585. We also got a lunch at Taco Bell which was quite different from our usual Happy Meals.

Tomorrow we arrive back in South Carolina so Mom and Dad can spend some more time with their granddaughter Peanut. They are real excited about that.

Movin' On

After two wonderful weeks at Forest Lake Thousand Trails in Advance, NC, it is time to move on. Tomorrow we head out for Lake Gaston, VA. We have enjoyed our time at Forest Lake. There are plenty of grassy areas for Lenny and me to play and roll on. One day Mom and Dad went to Charlotte, NC to have lunch with daughter-in-law Pat, who is temporarily working in Charlotte. After lunch, Mom and Dad toured the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which is a must for all NASCAR fans. Mom wasn't real excited about it but she knew Dad wanted to go there. Mom did sign Dad up to drive a car in a simulated race. Dad drove Jimmy Johnson's 48 car and only wrecked it two times.

During our stay here, we were pleasantly surprised when our friends Bob and Kathy arrived at the park for a stay. We haven't seen them since last fall. They are such nice people and are dog friendly. Lenny and I enjoy visiting them. One day, Bob and Kathy and Mom and Dad went to an RV show in Greensboro, NC. I guess they didn't see anything that excited them as neither couple bought a new RV. On another day they all went to a flea market and fortunately they didn't bring any fleas home.

In keeping with their hobby of finding historic graves, Mom and Dad did find the graves of Daniel Boone's parents and brother in Mocksville, NC. Daniel lived in Mocksville for several years.

While here, we learned that the Forest Lake Thousand Trails Park is on land once part of the Cooleemee Plantation, which was first purchased by the Hairston family in 1817. The plantation is still owned by the Hairston family. While the plantation is not open to the public, Mom and Dad met a caretaker who was eager to show them the house and outbuildings. The main house, which Mom and Dad call a mansion, is only called a villa by the Hairstons. It was built in 1851 in an Anglo-Grecian style of a Greek cross. The Hairstons also owned plantations in Virginia and were believed to be the largest slave owners and slave traders in the South. There are now two branches of the Hairston family, the white branch which pronounces the name as Harston and the black branch which pronounces the name as it is spelled. Three members of the black branch of the family have gone on to play major league baseball. On Thousand Trails Park land is a pioneer cemetery which predates the Hairston purchase of the land.

When we get to Virginia, Mom and Dad have a couple of day trips, with Happy Meals, planned for us. I will let you know later what the trips were.

We Hit The Road Again

Today we hit the road again. We are now at the Forest Lake Thousand Trails in the big metropolis of Advance, North Carolina. We have a big grassy site so there is plenty of room for Lenny and me to play. The park is fairly quiet now that school is back in session. We will be here for two weeks but nothing major is planned.

Saturday night, Mom and Dad did go to the PBR Greenville Invitational. They had a very enjoyable evening seing the bull riders they have followed on TV. Even though Lenny and I couldn't go, Mom and Dad did buy us a stuffed toy bull named Little Yellow Jacket. Sunday, Mom and Dad went to lunch at Trevor and Sharon's. Dave and Pat were also there so it was a nice family day. Of course, granddaughter Peanut was the center of attention.

Oh, by the way, I celebrated my 4th birthday last Thursday!

Sad News

Our dear friend Geri, (Pat's Mom) lost her battle with cancer this past Wednesday. This next weekend we will not only be celebrating Labor Day but also Mom's birthday. On September 11th, Mom and Dad will be attending a PBR (Professional Bull Riding) Event in Greenville. They are real excited about this as they are avid PBR fans. On September 14th, we will be hitting the road again with stops in North Carolina and Lake Gaston in Virginia. I will be getting more active on the blog as we start traveling again.

HOT CAROLINA

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything recently but we did make it back to South Carolina, where it is HOT and HUMID. During the week, we come to Dave and Pat's to stay with Pat's mom while they are working. Lenny and I like that because we get to play with Dave & Pat's dogs, our cousins, all day. When the day is over, Lenny and I nap all the way back to the trailer as we are tired out from playing so much. Mom an Dad like being back in South Carolina because they get to see more of their grand daughter Peanut, who is growing like a weed and is becoming much more animated. Mom and Dad, not being biased, think Peanut is one gorgeous little girl.

Cereal City

We left St Clair and headed to Battle Creek, MI, the home of Kellogg's and its founders. Battle Creek was also the home of Charles Post, founder of Post cereals. While Mom and Dad were taking grave site pictures of Kellogg and Post, they came up on Sojourner Truth's grave. Truth, a former slave who championed women's rights and anti slavery. Battle Creek was a stop on the underground railroad for fleeing slaves during the civil war. From Battle Creek we went to Batesville, IN but had to change our plans so that we could return to South Carolina to help with the care of a family member. More later.

Winding Down St Clair Visit

We are winding down our visit to the St Clair, MI area. Monday morning we head out for a two day stay in the Battle Creek area before heading to Batesville, IN. Lenny and I haven't been real busy while we were here but Mom and Dad have been on the go. One day they went to lunch in the Bay City area with Dad's cousin Carolyn and her husband Charlie. After lunch they stopped in Frankenmuth at the world famous Bronner's Christmas Wonderland store to pick up some Christmas items. Dad says the store is so big and spread out, they give you a map when you go in so you won't get lost. Mom and Dad really enjoyed spending time and visiting with Carolyn and Charlie.

On another day, Mom and Dad went to Henry Ford's Greenfield Village with Dad's cousin Sandra. Dad hadn't seen Sandra in over 28 years. Dad had been to Greenfield Village when he was a young boy and he always wanted to go back. Now that he has done it, he can scratch that off his "bucket list". Greenfield Village is a wonderful historical park set up by Henry Ford. He brought historical buildings to Greenfield Village so they could be preserved and enjoyed by future generations. Some of the sights included one of Thomas Edison's labs, the Wright Brothers' boyhood home and one of their bicycle shops, Noah Webster's home, poet Robert Frost's home and the Heinz House where HJ Heinz made his first product, which wasn't pickles or ketchup but horseradish. There were also old trains and Model T's throughout the park. Henry Ford also built a chapel in the park to honor his mother and mother-in-law. The bell in the chapel's belfry was cast by Paul Revere. After visiting the park, they went into Detroit to Henry Ford's grave to get a picture for their album.

One evening, Mom and Dad went to Sandra's for a wonderful dinner. Another one of Dad's cousins, Mary, was also there. Sandra's son Mike and two of her grandchildren were also there. Dad enjoyed reliving old times with Sandra and Mary.

Lenny and I did see the vet while we were here. Both of us got good reports and Lenny's diet has paid off as he has lost 14 pounds since last December. Since we had a good vet report, Mom and Dad took us into Canada one day. It was Lenny's first trip out of the US. We did some sightseeing and then we had a nice hamburger lunch at A&W.

Lastly, Dad wants to thank the dumpster truck traveling South on I-75 in Pontiac, Friday, for kicking up the rock and providing us with the opportunity to buy a new windshield for our truck.

Hello From Michigan

Today we left Ohio and made our way to the Thousand Trails Park in St Clair, Michigan. The first 3 hours of our trip today was in a heavy rainstorm which wasn't any fun. Michigan is the 31st state Lenny has visited since he began traveling with us 16 months ago. Since we are so close, we may even take him into Canada while we are here. We are glad to be out of Ohio where it was so hot with very high humidity. We didn't want to be outside playing in that heat. We did have a shocking experience while in Ohio. Lenny and I each wear a remote trainer collar. If we misbehave, Mom and Dad can hit a tone button to let us know we need to behave. If we don't behave then they can hit the shock button to give us a small shock and then we behave. We were having problems with my collar not working so Mom and Dad called the company. They walked them through some tests and come to find out the remotes had gotten crossed. When Mom or Dad hit my shock button, Lenny was getting shocked. He wasn't the least bit happy about that. Mom and Dad were able to get them reprogrammed so now they work properly. Lenny is happy now that he is not getting my shocks. While in Michigan, we plan to do some sightseeing and also visit the vet to get our annual shots. Later folks!

North Carolina

After three active weeks in South Carolina, highlighted by the birth of grand baby Kennedy Rae, we hitched up this past Sunday and headed for the Forest Lake Thousand Trails near Lexington, NC. Mom and Dad are still Ga Ga about Kennedy. On Wednesday, being one week old, she had her first pediatrician appointment. She gained 7 ounces and now weighs 8 lbs and grew 1/2 inch and is now 20 inches long. She is in great shape.

Monday, Mom and Dad toured the Childress Vineyards and Winery in Lexington. It is owned and operated by NASCAR team owner Richard Childress. According to Mom and Dad, it is a beautiful place and a first class operation. Wednesday, they went to Welcome, NC and toured Richard Childress Racing Headquarters and museum. Dad found it very fascinating as he is a NASCAR fan. NASCAR ownership is definitely not a poor man's operation.

Today was a road trip for me and Lenny. Mom and Dad took us to Mt Airy, NC, better known by many as Mayberry. We toured the town and saw many things from the Andy Griffith Show, from Sheriff Taylors office, car and jail to Floyd's Barber Shop to a statue of Andy & Opie to Andy Griffith's home from 1936 to 1966. Lenny and I got our pictures taken in the jail, in front of the statue and eating lunch of burgers and fries at the Blue Bird Diner. That was the highlight of the day for us. The Blue Bird Diner is pet friendly. They keep a water dish and a bucket of doggie treats out front for their 4 legged friends. We lunched on the front patio.

We leave Monday for Ohio. We will be making a one night stop at a campground on the original Bob Evans Farm, where the Bob Evans Restaurant idea was born.

OUR BUNDLE OF JOY HAS ARRIVED!!!!

Mom and Dad are now the proud grandparents of Kennedy Rae Gordon, born at 7:42 this morning, weighing in at 7 lbs 9 oz. She is a gorgeous little blonde with blue eyes and chubby cheeks. Momma Sharon and Kennedy are doing fantastic. Daddy Trevor is still on cloud nine.

Nothing Could Be Finer.....

.....Than to be in Carolina in the morning. Hi folks, yesterday we arrived back at what seems to be our home away from home, the Thousand Trails Park in Fair Play, South Carolina. We just finished 12 wonderful days at the Mountain Lakes Resort in Langston, Alabama. What a beautiful park, with plenty of room for me and Lenny. The park is on the shore of Guntersville Lake with its' 890 mile shoreline. The lake is part of the Tennessee River waterway. We never realized Alabama had some pretty mountain areas. Mom and Dad's old friends Matt and Connie were parked right beside us. We enjoyed seeing them again and introducing them to Lenny. We are scheduled to be here in South Carolina until June 13th but that is up in the air as we were anxiously awaiting the birth of Mom and Dad's granddaughter Peanut.

Natchez Trace

Hello from the Natchez Trace in Tennessee. We arrived here last Tuesday and managed to survive the storms that hit Tennessee this past weekend. Our trip to this park from Arkansas took us through McNairy County, TN where we passed the grave and home of "Walking Tall" Sheriff Buford Pusser. We spent the weekend in the trailer with the non-stop rain and continuous tornado warnings. Fortunately there were no tornadoes. It was kind of eerie since Saturday was the first anniversary of this park being hit by two tornadoes last year. The Natchez Trace is a beautiful parkway. Near our park on the Trace is the grave of Meriwether Lewis of the famed Lewis and Clark Expedition. We have another week of playing in this park before we head to Alabama where we are scheduled to meet up with Mom and Dad's friends Matt & Connie. It will be nice to see them again after a year and a half.

Half and Half

Last Thursday we left Gordonville for a long weekend in Ashdown, Arkansas. During our journey, we stopped in DeKalb, TX so Mom and Dad could get a picture of another gravesite, that of Dan Blocker who played "Hoss Cartwright" on the TV show Bonanza. We are spending the weekend at the Millwood Landing Golf and RV Resort. What a beautiful park. Today we took a ride into Texarkana so Lenny and I could get our picture taken straddling the state line between Texas and Arkansas. The state line goes right down the middle of the Federal Courthouse and Post Office. Afterwards we were treated to our happy meal hamburgers and fries. Gotta love those little sightseeing road trips! Arkansas is now the 31st state Lenny has visited since he came to live with us 14 months ago. Monday we will be leaving for the Natchez Trace in Tennessee. We will arrive there on Tuesday. This will be Lenny's first trip there so I am anxious to show him around. It's a fun place.

The Gordons In Gordonville

Today we left Thackerville, OK and drove a long 38 miles to the Lake Texoma Thousand Trails in Gordonville, TX. Gordonville is becoming an annual stop for us as this is one of our favorite parks. We enjoyed our two week stay in Thackerville. While Mom and Dad enjoyed spending time with friends John and Janet, Lenny and I had fun playing with our buddy Holly. One day I snuck out of our trailer. Dad didn't have to search hard for me as I ran straight to Holly's motorcoach and was setting on the steps when Dad caught up with me. One day, Mom and Dad went to the Thackerville Third Annual Rattlesnake Roundup put on by the Thackerville Fire Department. They enjoyed seeing many rattlesnakes but at a safe distance behind a barrier. Mom and Dad enjoyed the free seniors' breakfasts at the Winstar Casino. Fortunately, they didn't leave too much money in the slot machines, so they came out ahead. We will be in Gordonville for two weeks of rest and relaxation.

Lenny and I want to wish our family and friends a Happy Easter. We are enjoying our stay in Oklahoma. Last Sunday was a "doggie day-out" for us. Mom and Dad took us first to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Then we went to Oklahoma City to visit the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. It was very sobering to see the memorial chairs for the victims killed in that tragic event, 19 of who were children. Afterwards, we were treated to our happy meals for lunch. While enjoying lunch we were able to watch a female police officer chase down and capture a shoplifter. That was exciting!

Yesterday Mom and Dad went to the Winstar Casino for a free seniors breakfast. They sure do enjoy the perks of being senior citizens. Also, our Westie pal Holly arrived at the park with her Mom and Dad. We sure do enjoy playtime with her.

GET ALONG LITTLE DOGGIE

Today we are winding up our stay at Tres Rio in Glen Rose, TX. Tomorrow we head to the Red River Ranch RV Park in Oklahoma. We have enjoyed our stay in Glen Rose. This is a real

nice park. The first week we were here was spring break so there were lots of families here but the second week has been very quiet. The weather here for the most part has been beautiful except for the first two days of spring when it was miserably wet, windy and cold. Mom and Dad took me and Lenny to the historic Chisholm Trail. Of course what is the Chisholm Trail without a cattle drive. You have to love those Texas longhorns. Mom and Dad have also taken us down by the river to let us run loose. That has been fun. This past Sunday, Mom and Dad's longtime friends Fel and Molly came down for a visit and to go out for lunch. It was great seeing them. Mom and Dad used to go motorcycle riding with them. We are looking forward to our stay in Oklahoma as our RVing friends John and Janet and their puppy Holly are scheduled to meet up with us there. It will be nice to see them again. Medina Lake, Texas Hill Country

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted. For the past 11 days we have been at the Medina Lake Thousand Trails Park in the Texas hill country. This is one of our favorite parks with the deer, roadrunners and jackrabbits. When we arrived, Lenny and I were surprised to find our long time pals, Taffy and Snickers, were already here with their mommy and daddy, John and Marcia. It has been almost a year since we last saw Taffy and Snickers. We got to play with them for 10 days before they left for Louisiana. Mom and Dad really enjoyed spending time with John and Marcia. They are such good friends. One day, they all went out to dinner to celebrate Marcia's birthday. They wouldn't tell us how old she was though. Mom and Dad really enjoy all of the activities at this park with the games, dances, jam sessions, ice cream socials and wienie roasts. We are real disappointed with Medina Lake. Right now, it is nothing more than a wide spot in the Medina River. The flood gates are open and will remain open until the weak dam is replaced. The weather, for the most part is pretty good. We did have some snow flurries one day and some rain but now it is turning warmer and sunnier.

On March 11, we will be going to Glen Rose, the Dinosaur Capital of Texas, for a two week stay.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day from Columbus, TX, the oldest surveyed and platted Anglo-American town in Texas. We have been here for two weeks. For the most part, the weather has been wet and cold. At least there hasn't been any snow. We will be here until next Thursday then we head for Medina Lake, TX. Last week Mom and Day met Dad's old colleague, Roy Royston and his girlfriend Vicki for a great Mexican dinner. It is always great to spend time with Roy and Vicki. Yesterday, longtime friends, Skeeter and Debbie, came to visit and see our new trailer. They are really neat people as they brought toys and treats for me and Lenny. We hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Lenny's First Trip To The Reservation

Today we left Abita Springs and came to the Coushatta Tribal Reservation near Kinder, LA. We are at the RV park of the Coushatta Casino and Hotel. This is one beautiful park with plenty of room for Lenny and me to run and play. This is Lenny's first trip ever to an Indian Reservation. He doesn't seem to be excited about that fact though. He just likes running in the fields. We enjoyed our 12 days at Abita Springs visiting with Harold and Nina, seeing Mardi Gras getting kicked off and of course the Saints getting to go to the Super Bowl. After the Saints beat the Vikings, the area when GA-GA with fireworks going off most all night. The French Quarter and Bourbon Street were packed with people celebrating. This afternoon Mom and Dad visited the casino and made a small donation. I guess they plan another visit tomorrow afternoon. Thursday morning we will pull out early and make our way to Columbus, TX for a 3 week stay. It will be nice to be back in The Lone Star State.

Mom & Dad Are Excited

Yesterday, Sharon and Trevor posted a sonogram picture of their yet unborn daughter. Mom and Dad are so excited about having a granddaughter that they are "goofy". The picture shows the baby is going to be as beautiful as her Momma. We can't wait for her to be born!!!!!!!!!

We are now in Abita Springs, Louisiana. We arrived here last Thursday, however we did encounter a problem after leaving South Carolina. While spending one night in Alabama on our way here, we suffered a power surge that "fried" both of the TVs. So for 6 days we were without TVs. Mom was suffering withdrawal not being able to see her favorite shows on the Food Channel. Yesterday we got the TVs replaced so Mom and Dad are happy campers again. While here, Mom and Dad have been able to spend time with their friends, Harold and Nina Denton. Sunday they met up with them at the Hollywood Casino for dinner and some entertainment. This evening Mom and Dad are going over to their home for more visiting.

Louisiana is an excited place right now, with the Saints in the NFL playoffs and the upcoming Mardi Gras celebrations. There are Saints and Mardi Gras signs and merchandise all over the place. Lenny and I are enjoying the warmer weather of Louisiana. We are able to be outside more and have met a couple of new friends, Mitzi and Sally. They are fun to play with.

Time To Hit The Road

After three wonderful, but cold, weeks in South Carolina, it is time for us to hit the road. We enjoyed spending the holidays with the kids and getting to see them again. It has been real cold in South Carolina but with the new trailer we have managed to keep ourselves toasty. We loved our other trailer but the new one is so much nicer. We are heading out tomorrow for Abita Springs, LA. We will be spending two weeks in Louisiana before we hit Texas again. We are ready for some warmer weather so we can be outside more. Merry Christmas

Mom, Dad, Lenny and I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We hope everyone has a happy and joyous holiday. Right now we are in Greensboro, Georgia but Wednesday we will be heading to South Carolina to spend the Christmas and New Year's holidays with family.

Yesterday, we went to Buford, Georgia and picked up our family Christmas present, a new fifth wheel trailer. In late October, Mom and Dad had special ordered a new 2010 Cardinal trailer. It came in Thursday, so we picked it up yesterday. Moving day was a hassle but we are very happy with our new home. It is 38 feet long with much more living area than our toy hauler had. Mom and Dad love the new flat screen TVs and the LazyBoy recliners. Lenny and I love the new king sized bed. With an Arctic package, it is much easier to heat in this cold weather.

In Florida, Are We Snowbirds?

Today we arrived in Wauchula, Florida. We will be in Florida for the next 4 weeks. Sunday we left South Carolina and spent two nights in the Savannah, Georgia area. Mom and Dad left Lenny and me at home while they did some touristy things. Sunday afternoon, they toured Fort Frederica, a fort and settlement established by James Oglethorpe when he settled the Georgia colony. Monday they went into Savannah and had lunch at Mrs Wilkes' Boarding House. Mom and Dad were there 14 years ago and always wanted to go back. People stand in line to eat there. It is boarding house style, 10 people to a table, and the food is served like the old boarding house. When people are finished eating, they are required to carry their plates and utensils to the washroom. After lunch, Mom and Dad went to tour Fort Pulaski. When they got there, they found that a movie, directed by Robert Redford, was being filmed there. The movie, "The Conspirator" will be about the Lincoln assassination. The cast and crew broke for lunch so Mom and Dad got to meet Robert Redford. Mom even got her picture taken with him. He said the movie will be out sometime next year. It is hard to believe that he is now 73 years old. After Savannah, we stopped in St Augustine for one night on our way here. Now that Lenny is in Florida, this is the 29th state he has visited since becoming a member of the gypsy band. Since arriving here, we have already run into 3 couples and pets that we had met at other parks.

Fall Foliage

Well, Mom & Dad took us for a road trip today to see the fall leaves. Lenny & I didn't see what all the hoopla was about but it was fun. Mom made Lenny & I chicken & rice for lunch which was real good. We got to see this great water fall and we rode the Blue Ridge Parkway. We drove 248 miles and we were tired when we got home but we had a great time.

We will be here until Nov. 15th and then we head to Florida. On the 12th of Nov. Dad & Mom are going to the Thanksgiving dinner at the park, sure hope they remember to bring us some turkey back. Well guess this is all for now.

Lenny & I are going to check out PetsMart to see if they have babysitting classes. I guess this means we will not be going out West next year so we can be close by when the baby gets here. We will even let the baby play with our toys.

OK, Now Where's The RC Cola

Today Mom and Dad went to Charleston, SC with their RV friends, Bob and Kathy. They stopped at The Moon Pie Store to pick up some official Moon Pies. They bought Lenny and me a Moon Pie toy to play with. But, they did not get us an RC Cola. Whoever heard of a Moon Pie without an RC Cola. A Moon Pie without an RC Cola is almost Un-American. We are currently at the Big Water RV Resort in Summerton, SC. We will be here until Sunday then we head back to Fair Play, SC for another 3 weeks. Dad has some appointments and we will get to see Dave & Pat and Trevor & Sharon. Thursday, Mom and and Dad are taking us to the Congaree National Park for the day. That should be fun because we will also get Happy Meals. Its been very cool here but a least its not raining. During our three weeks at Fair Play, before coming here, we had more than 10 inches of rain. There wasn't much outside playing there. Hopefully the major rains are behind us. Time for a Moon Pie, later folks.

3rd Anniversary

Today, October 1st, marks Mom and Dad's third anniversary as fulltime RVers. Three years ago today they hooked up the trailer and pulled out of Grand Prairie, Texas and began their fulltime lifestyle. Seven weeks later they adopted me and I joined them for the adventure. It is a wonderful lifestyle, traveling around seeing this beautiful country. We have pulled the trailer 31,000 miles and have visited the 48 contiguous states and six Canadian provinces. We are looking forward to more travels and adventures.

Hello From Gatlinburg, TN

Yesterday we left North Carolina and made our way to Gatlinburg, in the Great Smoky Mountains. This is beautiful country, though right now, a bit soggy. Our site has plenty of puddles and soggy ground so Lenny and I do not get to play outside too much. Mom has this thing about us tracking mud into the trailer. After we arrived, we met up with Mom's brother Albert and his wife Diane and Mom's sister Laura and her husband Gene. They have been vacationing here for the week and will be leaving tomorrow morning. Tonight we are looking forward to the arrival of Trevor and Sharon, who will be here for the weekend. It will be special for Lenny to see Trevor again. We are looking forward to a fun weekend. Sunday we will be heading out for Fair Play, South Carolina for a three week stay.

The Tar Heel State

After two restful weeks at Lynchburg, Virginia, we are now in North Carolina. We left Lynchburg this morning and drove in rain the entire way. What's new, we have seen more than our share of rain since we left Texas. We enjoyed our time in Lynchburg. We met up with Mom and Dad's RVing friends, Bob and Kathy and Bob and Candy. We first met up with them in Arizona last summer. Lenny and I also made a new friend, "Granny", while in Lynchburg. "Granny" is a 94 year old lady who travels with her daughter and son-in-law. "Granny" would come over and pet us. She really adored us. Whenever her daughter would look to see where "Granny" had wandered off to, she would start at our place because she knew "Granny" would want to come see us. Mom and Dad did go to Appomattox Courthouse to see where Lee surrendered to Grant, ending the Civil War. By the way, North Carolina is the 27th state Lenny has traveled with us. He hasn't caught up with me on states visited but he is working on it. We will be in North Carolina for one week, then we will be off to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Signing off for now.....

Wonderful Week At Chesapeake

We are ending a wonderful week at the Chesapeake Thousand Trails. We have really enjoyed ourselves. Saturday night the park had a DJ playing music at the activity center, across from our trailer. We were able to sit at the trailer and enjoy the music, everything from the 60's to today, country and rock. That was really neat for me and Lenny. We have also done quite a bit of sightseeing while in the area. One day we toured Yorktown and the Yorktown Battlefield. This is where General Lord Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington, thus ending the Revolutionary War and giving independence to the United States. On another day we toured the Richmond area. We drove down Monument Avenue and saw all the neat monuments, including the newest one of tennis great Arthur Ashe, a Richmond native. We toured the Petersburg and Richmond Civil War battlefields and even had a picnic lunch at the Richmond battlefield. Of course the day would not be complete without Mom and Dad looking for historic graves. At the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Mom and Dad found the graves of Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler. We also saw the graves of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Confederate General Jeb Stuart. We also got to see the Confederate White House in Richmond. It was a long but fun day.

Tomorrow we pull out and head for the Thousand Trails park in Lynchburg, VA. We will be there for two weeks. On Friday, Sept 4th, we will be celebrating Mom's birthday and then on Wednesday, Sept 9th, we will be celebrating my 3rd birthday. It should be a fun time.

Tomorrow morning we pull out and head for Chesapeake. We have had a lot of fun visiting with family while here. Lenny and I had loads of fun playing with TJ, a goldendoodle puppy. TJ is only a pup but he is way bigger than me but not as big as Lenny, yet. We also had a blast playing with Monica, Angela, Alex and Ben. Mom and Dad enjoyed seeing nephew Mike and wife Ester and were pleasantly surprised to see niece Heidi and her husband Ryan. It was like a small family reunion. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool here at the RV park. Today, Mom and Dad toured Washington without us. They decided to ride the Metro Rail into Washington and dogs are not allowed so we had to stay home and guard the trailer. Mom and Dad were exhausted when they got back. They walked 4 hours in the heat sightseeing around Washington. They were so proud of us guarding the trailer that we got special hot dogs for supper. Thanks to Mike and Ester for their hospitality.

Hershey, "The Sweetest Place On Earth"

For the past week we have been based in Hershey, PA, the last stop of our Pennsylvania visit. We have had a busy week of sightseeing. Our first excursion was to the Crayola Crayon Factory in Easton, PA. I wonder how many people have used Crayola Crayons in their lifetime? Of course Lenny and I were treated to a Happy Meal that day. One day Mom and Dad left us home and went to the Hershey Chocolate Story Museum. Dad is fascinated by the Hershey Kiss street lights on Chocolate Ave. On Thursday we had a long sightseeing day as we went to the Philadelphia area. We visited Hopewell Furnace, a self-contained plantation where they didn't grow crops but worked with iron ore and limestone. From there we went to Valley Forge to see where General Washington based his troops during the Revolutionary War. In Philadelphia, we visited Edgar Allan Poe's home, Independence Hall and saw the Liberty Bell. And of course, Lenny and I got our Happy Meals for lunch. It was a long day for us. On Friday, Mom and Dad left us home to rest up while they went to Gettysburg where they toured the battlefields and President Eisenhower's home and farm. Tomorrow we pull out and head to the Washington, D.C. area to visit Mom and Dad's nephew Mike, his wife Ester and their daughters Monica and Angela. Mom and Dad have also promised to show us some of the sights in Washington. It should be a fun time. Until then, take care.

More Travels In Pennsylvania

Yesterday we left Kane, PA and traveled to Champion, PA on the second leg of our Pennsylvania visit. Our trip took us through Punxsutawney, home of the world famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil. It was early so we were unable to stop and see Phil in his home at the library complex. However, we did see lots of statues of Phil all over town. We also traveled through Indiana, PA, hometown of the late movie star and retired Air Force Reserve Brigadier General, Jimmy Stewart. Today we had a long day of sightseeing. We started near Shanksville at the Flight 93 Memorial. This somber memorial is at the sight of the crash of the hijacked plane on that fateful day of September 11, 2001. The passengers and crew of that flight were heroes and deserve to be remembered. Through their efforts, the plane never reached its intended target in Washington, D.C. We then went to Johnstown, PA to visit the Johnstown Flood Memorial. We also got to walk on the remnants of the dam that broke away on May 31, 1889, killing at least 2209 people. We also visited a cemetery in Johnstown where the victims are buried. There were hundreds of graves that were inscribed "Unknown Victim". Our last stop for the day was in Latrobe, the hometown of Arnold Palmer. There we found the gravesite of Fred Rogers, of TVs Mr Rogers' "Its A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood. Also while in Latrobe, we went by St Vincent College and saw the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers working out at their training camp. Boy do the Steeler fans turn out for training camp. The place was packed. Man what a great day we had, Lenny and I were also treated to Happy Meals during our day out.

Thursday we plan to do more sightseeing at Fort Necessity, Friendship Hill and Braddocks' Grave (not the Chuck Norris Braddock). This Braddock was a pre-Revolutionary War General from England. That's all for now!

Enjoying The Alleghenies

Boy are we having fun here in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. Here at the RV Park, Lenny and I have been able to play with Bo, half lab/half shepherd, and Squirt, another long haired Chihuahua. I met and played with Squirt when we were here two years ago. It is great seeing him again. We are also having a great time playing with cousin Smokey,(pictured above). Lenny is getting along real well with other dogs and is having fun playing with them. Mom and Dad have been busy visiting with Mom's brothers and their families that are in the area. Mom and Dad have also been doing some sightseeing. One day they went to Bradford, PA to the Zippo Lighter/Case Knife factory and visitor center. Dad was fascinated with the Zippo Lighter street lights at the visitor center. Hershey, PA has the Hershey Kiss street lights and Bradford has the Zippo Lighters. Mom and Dad also visited the Straub Brewery in St Marys, PA. Dad enjoyed the "Eternal Tap" at the brewery where he was allowed to help himself. Tomorrow Mom and Dad are taking us to Salamanca, NY to the Seneca Indian Reservation for a picnic. That should be loads of fun. This weekend we will be winding up our visit with a cookout at Uncle Albert and Aunt Diane's. We will be fed real well and get to spend more time playing with Smokey. Ohio Visit Winding Down

Our visit to Ohio is winding down. Thursday we leave for the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania where Mom was born and raised. We have enjoyed our Ohio visit but are tired of the rain. Mom and Dad toured the home, in Mentor, OH, of President James Garfield. According to them it is quite a place. The home had nine rooms when the Garfields purchased it but they added on to where it now has 29 rooms. Mom and Dad had previously visited Garfield's crypt in Cleveland. Yesterday, Mom and Dad had lunch with two old friends, Kelly and Mark, at the Old Mill Winery in Geneva, OH. Kelly and Mark loaded Mom and Dad up with vegetables from their garden. Gotta keep the old folks healthy. Mom is going to roast the vegetables tonight for supper and she is going to give Lenny & me some to have with our dinner, I can't wait.

While Mom & I were out walking , she almost stepped on a SNAKE. I was going to get it but she hauled me up in her arms and took off. It was a 2 foot black snake. Lenny is in the dog house, Mom cleaned and then he dumped the toy box out all over the place, she yelled and he got excited and put his foot in the food dish and dumped that then all H----broke loose. Don't worry Lenny, she gets over it real fast, just give her the eyes.

OHIO....Birthplace of Aviation

We are currently in a beautiful park in Wilmington, OH. We have a big grassy site with plenty of room for Lenny and me to run and play. Yesterday, Mom and Dad went to Dayton and toured the Wright Brothers Bicycle Shop. Afterwards, they went and found the graves of Wilbur and Orville. They also found the grave of humorist Erma Bombeck. Even in death, Erma has a great sense of humor. Her grave is marked only by a big boulder. No fancy monument for her. Today we went to Brock, OH to see the grave of Phoebe Anne Moses, better known by her stage name of "Annie Oakley". She was also nicknamed "Little Sure Shot" by Chief Sitting Bull when they toured with Buffalo Bill and his Wild West Show. We then went to Greenville, OH to see a statue of her at the Annie Oakley Memorial Park. We also went by her home, which is still a private residence today. Thursday we leave here and will be going to Jefferson, OH in the Northeast part of the state.

Lenny and I are so happy that we finally have a new sister-in-law. Trevor and Sharon were married July 4th, while vacationing in Costa Rica. Now we have two wonderful sisters-in-law to fawn over us. We are so excited to have Sharon in our family. Now, when can expect some little cousins?

Doggie Prayers Needed

While here in Batesville, IN, Lenny and I have made friends with two little white dogs, Angel and Annie. Last evening while out walking with their Mommie, Annie was viciously attacked by a big Dalmatian. Annie is in critical condition at a doggie hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Lenny and I would like for all of our doggie friends and their parents to pray for Annie's recovery. Thank you for all your prayers. We will keep you updated on her progress. Trike & Lenny

Doggie Day Out

Yesterday was doggie day out for me and Lenny. Mom and Dad took us to the groomer at PetsMart in Cincinnati . We got groomed, a pedicure and our teeth cleaned. We loved being pampered. The groomer said we were very well behaved and easy to work with. After the groomer, we went to see the vet for our checkups and necessary vaccinations. The vet said we were very healthy but that Lenny needed to lose some weight. I guess that means there will be no more "doggie lattes" from Starbucks for us.

Afterwards, we did the the tourist thing around Cincinnati. One stop was at the home of Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin". We also got to see the stadiums where the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals play. Boy, are they nice stadiums. We also crossed the Ohio River so Lenny could leave his scent in Kentucky and add another state to his States Visited Map.

Sign Says Indiana, Weather Says Florida

The signs say we are are in Clinton, Indiana but the weather says we are in Florida. The weather in Clinton, Indiana is temperatures in the 90's and the humidity is also in the 90 percent range. Lenny and I have not wanted to spend alot of time outside. It is just too hot and miserable. We enjoy staying inside with the air conditioning. Mom and Dad walk outside and they are wringing wet. Its like, "the hottest summer I spent in Florida was the week I spent in Clinton, Indiana". We have not done much here in Clinton. Clinton is just North of Terre Haute. Terre Haute is where Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber was executed. Wow, what a claim to fame for a city. Tomorrow we leave for a 3 week stay in Batesville, Indiana. Hopefully the humidity will not be as bad in Southeastern Indiana. For all you old timers, Batesville's major industry is the Batesville Casket Company. Anyone want me to place an order for them?

Is This Heaven? No, Its Iowa

Willkommen from the Amana Colonies of Iowa. Iowa is the 48th state I have visited. I have now been to all of the 48 contiguous states. I will probably never make it to Hawaii but I am hoping Mom and Dad will someday take me to Alaska. Since Mom and Dad have already been to Hawaii and Alaska, they have now visited all 50 states. We arrived here today from Minnesota. We are staying at the Amana Colonies RV Park, which is owned by the Amana Society. When you hear Amana, most people today think of the Amana appliances that are still made here today. The Amana Colonies date back to the mid 1850's when German immigrants set up a communal lifestyle here. Many of the original building are still in use today. Dad said this area reminds him a lot of the Amish towns, such as Intercourse, in Pennsylvania. Tomorrow, Mom and Dad will be touring the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, Museum and gravesite. Friday we will be heading to Indiana.

SPAM Museum

Today, Mom and Dad left me and Lenny at home and went to the SPAM Museum in Austin, MN. This is the hometown of Hormel, the makers of SPAM (the meat, not the computer crud). Mom and Dad were really fascinated by the museum and the amount of Spam consumed throughout the world. Hormel makes almost 200 different foods but Spam is their most popular item. They did remember us and bought us a Spammy pig to play with.

I'm Now An Official Member

Hi folks, I'm Lenny and I am doing Trike's Blog today. As you can see from the picture, Mom and Dad have now put my name on the sign so I am now an official member of this gypsy traveling bunch. We are at Hidden Bluffs RV Resort in Spring Grove, Minnesota. This is one beautiful park with plenty of room for Trike and me to run. The park is in a tree lined hollow with a stream running through it. Minnesota is a lot cooler than Texas. Yesterday morning when we got ready to leave Northern Minnesota to come here, Dad had to wait for the ice to melt from the truck's windshield. We will be here for two weeks exploring the area, so I am sure Trike will fill you in as we see things. Stay tuned......

Buffalo Country - North Dakota

Today we arrived in Jamestown, ND, home of the world's largest buffalo. It weighs 60 tons and is visible from the Interstate. We left Rapid City yesterday, a day earlier than was planned. Mom and Dad learned that Sitting Bull was buried in Mobridge, SD so we went there to see the gravesite and spend the night. Right beside Sitting Bull's grave is a memorial to Sacagawea, who served as a scout and guide for Lewis and Clark on there first trip to Oregon.

Jamestown is a neat town with a frontier village and a herd of buffalo. The herd is right beside our RV park. There is an albino cow and calf in the herd. Remember, "when the chips are down the buffalo is empty". Jamestown was also the hometown of Western writer Louis L'Amour. His writing shack is now in the frontier village.

We will be here until Tuesday then we will be heading to Minnesota. Take care!

Its Official, Dad's An Old Codger

Today, Dad received his first Social Security check so he is now officially an "OLD CODGER". Thats OK, we still love him. We certainly are enjoying our visit to the Rapid City area. Sunday we went to Devils Tower in Wyoming. Mom and Dad have also visited Jewel Cave, Wind Cave and the National Presidential Wax Museum. Today they plan on going to Deadwood, where Wild Bill Hickok lived and died. They previously have been to his grave and the grave of Calamity Jane, which are in Deadwood. Our time here is winding down as Sunday we leave for a two day visit to North Dakota.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend From Mt Rushmore

From Rapid City, SD, Lenny and I want to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day. We hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend, but please take time out to remember those who paid the ultimate price so we can enjoy the freedom we have.

We are having a blast in the Rapid City area. So far we have visited Mount Rushmore, The Badlands, The Crazy Horse Memorial, the Minuteman Missile site, Custer State Park and seen Fort Hayes from the movie "Dances With Wolves. This is a beautiful part of the US with magnificent scenery and lots of wildlife. So far we have seen buffalo, elk, deer, antelope, a coyote, wolves, bears, wild burros, mountain goats, wild turkeys (the birds not the booze), prairie dogs, rabbits and rattlesnakes.

We are staying at the Rushmore Shadows RV Park which is very nice with lots of room for me and Lenny to run. The weather had been nice but today it turned cold so we have had to have the heater on.

Winding Down In Nebraska

We are finishing our four day visit to Nebraska. We have managed a lot of sightseeing in these four days. Since arriving in Gering, NE, we have visited Scotts Bluff National Monument where we saw remnants of the Oregon Trail. We have a beautiful view of Scotts Bluff from our RV park. This morning we went to the Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. Afterwards we headed to Fort Robinson. We learned that no one knows where Crazy Horse is buried. After he was killed, his family took his body and never told anyone where they buried him. We did see the exact spot where he was killed at the fort. Fort Robinson, during World War II, housed German POWs.

We then took a side trip into Wyoming to visit the historic Fort Laramie. It's amazing that it is pretty much as is was in the 1800's. So much for Nebraska, tomorrow morning we head off to Rapid City, SD for a two week stay.

Fortunately we are now in Nebraska. We had a very trying time in Kansas. As we were pulling into a gas station in Newton, KS, the bracket holding our trailer's 3rd axle broke off, leaving the wheels hanging loose. Emergency road service came but could not fix the axle until the next day. They took the axle and wheels off so we could limp into an RV park with only two axles. The next day we spent six hours in Salina, KS getting the axle reinstalled, along with two new tires. Mom and Dad were not happy campers. Needless to say, we never made it to the Eisenhower Center.

We got into North Platte, NE around 11:00am today, so we were able to do some sightseeing. Hence the pictures. Mom says after we are through RVing, Dad can work at the original Pony Express station and we will all live in the Sod House in Gothenburg, NE. Lenny and I would prefer to live in Buffalo Bill's house on his ranch in North Platte.

Friday, we leave for Gering, NE and will be seeing some National Parks there. Also, we are going to try and find the grave of Crazy Horse in Fort Robinson Cemetery in Crawford, NE. That will look good with our picture of the Monument of Crazy Horse in South Dakota.

Happy Mothers' Day

Happy Mothers' Day to all of the wonderful Moms out there. This morning Dad, Lenny and I gave Mom two new shirts for Mother's Day. After that, Dad took Mom out for breakfast. Today is our packing day as we head out for Kansas in the morning. We love Grove, OK but are so ready to leave. It has rained so much here that we haven't had many chances to get out and play. The lake level is so high that several RV sites are under water. Last evening the park hosted a free cookout for all campers in honor of Mothers' Day. Of course Lenny and I were not allowed to attend.

For the next week, we will be spending two days in Kansas and four days in Nebraska before we get to Rapid City, SD next Sunday. We plan to visit The Eisenhower Library in Abilene, KS, Buffalo Bill's Ranch and Scott's Bluff in Nebraska. Stay tuned and maybe will have some some pictures to post.

Hitch'em Up Pa

Now that Mom is back home, it is time to hitch'em up Pa. Bright and early tomorrow morning we leave Texas and start our summer journey North. During the next couple of months we will be visiting Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. We have a lot planned to see and visit during this journey. We also plan to visit a couple of Canadian Provinces while we are up there. By the end of the summer we will have now visited the 48 contigous states.

What A Traveling Day This Was!!!

Boy what a traveling day we had today. Mom and Dad had everything ready last night to leave Bay Landing and head to Lake Texoma, including having the trailer hitched up to the truck. At 5:30 this morning, Mom received a call that her mother, in St Marys, PA, had passed away. Mom and Dad had to rush around and make arrangement for Mom to fly to PA. Dad unhitched the trailer and drove Mom to Dallas to catch a plane. She is now on her way. That left me and Lenny to help Dad get everything ready again. We left Bay Landing and arrived at Lake Texoma Thousand Trails in, of all towns, Gordonville, TX. How appropriate. Of course, we arrived during a heavy thunderstorm. That was not fun.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bay Landing. We got to play with our friends, Taffy & Snickers, and Mom & Dad got to spend time with their parents, John & Marsha. They are such very good friends. While at Bay Landing, Mom & Dad also got to go out to dinner with friends, George & Gloria Rink, who stopped in the area for the night on their way from Colorado to Florida. Mom & Dad enjoyed seeing them again. Mom & Dad were also pleasantly surprised when Bob & Kathy Blackburn arrived at Bay Landing. We hadn't see them since last June in Hurricane, UT. Bob and Mom used to used to work at the same place in St Petersburg, FL years ago.

Happy Easter

Lenny and I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Please don't eat the ears off the chocolate bunnies before Easter. Today we arrived at one of our favorite parks, the Bay Landing Thousand Trails in Bridgeport, TX, about 40 miles Northwest of Fort Worth. We will be here for the next 3 weeks and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my pals, Taffy and Snickers, who will be here in 11 days. You remember the C & W song "If Momma Ain't Happy, Ain't Nobody Happy" well Momma is now happy. After 2 1/2 years of dealing with a lousy Suburban oven in our trailer, Mom and Dad decided to cut their losses and get a new oven. Yesterday we went to the Camping World in New Braunfels, TX and got a new Magic Chef oven installed. Now folks, Momma is happy to finally have an oven that works properly.

Remember The Alamo

We are currently at Medina Lake, so today Mom and Dad took me and Lenny to the Alamo and the San Antonio Missions. Dogs are not allowed in the Alamo so we had to settle for having our picture taken in front of it. Now that he has been to the Alamo, we can consider Lenny a Texan like the rest of us. We are enjoying our stay at Medina Lake with all the deer, jackrabbits and roadrunners. Lenny has been real good about not chasing the deer. He is quite content to sit and watch them. Since I've been here before, the deer are no big deal for me. We will be here for a few more days then we will be heading to Bay Landing in Bridgeport, TX where Lenny will get to meet my friends, Taffy & Snickers. If Lenny is lucky, he may be able to see some wild pigs at Bay Landing.

Only in Texas

Yesterday we arrived at the Bayview RV Resort in Rockport, Texas. Only in Texas would you see a natural gas well being drilled right in the middle of an RV park. That's Texas for you. This is a beautiful area near the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It reminds Mom and Dad of the areas in Florida where the snowbirds spend their winters. Today we went to Corpus Christi and visited the Padre Island National Seashore. I still don't like the waves crashing so I stayed away from the Gulf of Mexico. Lenny loves water but even he was leery of the waves crashing in. We loved the beach and the sand. From there we went to see the retired aircraft carrier the USS Lexington, moored in Corpus Christi. Mom and Dad remember when the "Lady Lex" was an active duty carrier based in Pensacola, FL. Afterwards we took Lenny to McDonald's so he could have his first "Happy Meal". He seemed to enjoy it as it was gone in no time. Mom and Dad love to spoil us, and we eat it up.

Happy St Patrick's Day to all of our Irish friends. I hope you all have a bit of the Irish luck today. Don't forget to eat corned beef and cabbage today. I think I will stick to my regular dog food though. Today is packing day for us. Bright and early tomorrow morning we pull out and head for a week in Rockport, TX, near Corpus Christi. We have "hitch itch" and are so ready to leave. This park is celebrating Spring Break and it is packed.

Springtime In Texas Means Bluebonnets

Today Lenny and I got our picture taken among the beautiful Texas bluebonnets. Notice our neat bandanas. We have our names on them. This is a great time of year to be in Texas. We are really enjoying the wonderful weather. Lenny and I are able to spend a lot of time playing outside. Mom and Dad have extended our time here at Lake Conroe for another week. They are having the oven repaired and the parts have not come in yet. The oven has never worked right so they are hoping to get it properly repaired this time. Last night, Mom and Dad went out for a barbeque dinner with friend and former colleague Roy Royston and his girlfriend Vickie. Mom and Dad had a very enjoyable time with Roy and Vickie. Roy and Vickie made sure Mom and Dad brought us home some great Texas barbeque to munch on.

We've Got "Hitch Itch"

Well folks we have "hitch itch' and are winding down on our nine week stay in South Carolina. Bright and early Monday morning we will be pulling out and starting our trek back to Texas. Wednesday we will be arriving at the Thousand Trails at Lake Conroe. We certainly hope it is warmer there. We have had our fill of cold weather. It has been nice spending time with the family and meeting Trevor's fiancee Sharon. We hope she becomes a family member real soon!

We also have a new family member who will be traveling with us. Cousin Lenny, the 65 lb black Lab, is now brother Lenny. Lenny is now living with us and will be traveling with us. Lenny is a lot of fun to be around. Of course, he realizes that I am the alpha dog in this household.

Back To Fair Play

This past Monday was moving day so now we are back at Fair Play, South Carolina. Last night we spent the night at Trevor's so Mom and Dad could take Trevor and Sharon out to dinner to celebrate their engagement. I stayed with cousin Lenny and had a good time playing with him. As you can see he is a whole lot bigger than me but I can hold my own with him. We have a great time together. This morning, Sharon, Mom and Dad went with Trevor when he had day surgery on his "tennis" elbow. The surgery went well and he is at home resting.

It is bitterly cold here. When we got back to the trailer we found that the power had gone off last night and all of our pipes had frozen since the furnace went out with the power outage. We have the power back on so all of the pipes have now thawed out. We are so ready for some warmer weather.

During a recent trip to Hawaii, Trevor and Sharon became engaged. Aren't they a beautiful couple? Mom, Dad and I are so happy for them and look foward to welcoming Sharon into our family. She is such a neat lady. We are anxious to get back to Fair Play, SC next week so we can see the happy couple and the ring.

Charleston Yesterday, Snow Flurries Today

Yesterday was a nice day so we toured historic Charleston, SC. We toured Fort Moultrie where we found the grave of Seminole Indian leader Osceola. We checked out the lighthouse on Sullivan's Island. We also visited Fort Sumter, the Charles Pinckney National Historic site, the aircraft carrier USS York, and the open market in downtown Charleston. Mom and Dad said they think Charleston is a cross between New Orleans and Key West. The old mansions and homes in historic Charleston are magnificent.

Today we will be staying in as we are now having snow flurries.

South Carolina, Winter Wonderland???

Good morning from the winter wonderland of South Carolina where it was 18 degrees when we got up this morning. This is the coldest morning we have ever spent in our RV. Fortunately for Mom and Dad it is warm inside. Can you believe this, last summer it was 127 degrees in Bullhead City, AZ where I cooked an egg on the sidewalk and now it is 18 degrees and I am walking on ice. Since I am a chihuahua, you would think I would like hot weather but I really enjoy this cold weather more. I get real frisky when it is cold. Of course Mom and Dad don't like the cold. Hopefully next week it will warm up so we can go exploring.

First Move Of 2009

Today was moving day for us. This is our first move of 2009. After three wonderful weeks in Fair Play, SC, we are now at Santee, SC on the shores of Lake Marion. While the weather in Fair Play was cold and wet, we had a great time seeing family and friends. The Santee area is new for us so we have a lot of exploring to do. We are really looking forward to spending time sightseeing in the Charleston area as we have never been there. I'm sure Mom and Dad will be looking for famous gravesites and historic spots in Charleston. I hope everyone is having a good 2009 so far. Stay tuned and I will keep you updated on our activities.

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year's Eve. We stayed home and were in bed by 11:00PM. We figured 2009 would be here when we woke up, and it was. We are really enjoying the holidays in South Carolina with our family and my canine buddies. Its amazing how fast the holidays come and go. We have done some sightseeing while we are here. One day we visited three Revolutionary War Battlefields, Cowpens, Kings Mountain and Ninety-Six. Mom and Dad were surprised there were so many Revolutionary Battles in South Carolina. Most people only hear about the battles up North, like Valley Forge and Lexington. Yesterday Mom and Dad took me to the vet for all my annual shots and tests. That was not a lot of fun, but at least I am healthy.

Great Play Day With Emma & David

Today Mom and Dad took me to Martinez, Ga, near Augusta, to see cousin Heather and her children Emma and David. Emma and David gave me a Christmas bag with 5 new toys. What a wonderful surprise! We didn't get to see Ken as he was out of town attending his grandmother's funeral. We went to lunch and then played in the leaves in their backyard. What fun!!!! I had a great day but was so tired I slept all the way back to Greensboro.

Sightseeing In Georgia

Boy have we been busy sightseeing in Georgia. Our first excursion was to Eatonton, the hometown of Joel Chandler, who wrote the famous Uncle Remus stories about Brer Rabbit. We went to the Uncle Remus cabin and, as you can see, I got my picture taken with a statue of Brer Rabbit. In the background you can see Uncle Remus' cabin. We have toured around Eatonton, Greensboro and Madison viewing the history and seeing some beautiful antebellum homes along Georgia's Antebellum Trail. Greensboro is a town that has been burned down twice, once by Indians and then by General Sherman on his march through Georgia. Madison is the only town Sherman did not burn down on his march to the sea. A friend lived in Madison so Sherman spared it.

We spent today in Atlanta where we visited Stone Mountain, the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park and the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic site. As Mom and Dad always do, they took a picture of the graves of MLK and his wife to go in their Historic Grave album.

Sunday we are going to Augusta so I get to play with Emma and David. Later friends.........

Good Bye Florida, Hello Georgia

After 8 1/2 wonderful weeks in Florida visiting family and friends, today was moving day. We are now on the shores of Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA. We set up and Mom got into the Christmas spirit so she and Dad hung icicle lights on our trailer. Its funny that we had to leave Florida and come to Georgia to get warmer temperatures. It was at freezing when we left Florida this morning. While we are here, we plan to visit with cousin Heather and her family, husband Ken and their children, my buddies, Emma and David. Mom also has us scheduled to do some sightseeing in Atlanta. Dad wants to go to Eatonton and see the Uncle Remus cabin. Stay tuned for updates on our Georgia activities......

Suwannee Christmas Lights

These are some pictures of the Christmas lights at the Spirit of the Suwannee RV Park. They advertise 5 million lights but we think that is a conservative estimate. It is a fantastic Christmas light display and I am glad we were able to see it.

Long Day Getting Back To The Suwannee

This morning we left Wauchula, FL, bright and early, headed back to the Suwannee River. BUT...We had to make a stop at Camping World in Tampa to replace a tire on the trailer. As luck would have it, Camping World didn't have the correct tire in stock so they had to get their distributor to deliver one. The tire was delivered as all of the techs were going to lunch. After spending 5 hours there we were finally on the road to Suwannee. We had to laugh as we were heading North on I-75. We were the only RV going North. All of the other RVs on the road were heading South. The snowbirds are arriving in Florida.

We sure enjoyed our time at the Peace River Resort in Wauchula. I enjoyed my time with my buddies Snickers and Taffy. Mom and Dad enjoyed their time with friends, John & Marcia and to finally meet Judy and Bob in person.

While here at Suwannee, we will be getting to see Christmas lights. The park has a drive-thru Christmas light display with over 5 million Christmas lights. If you all are good, maybe I can get Dad to post some pictures of the lights on the blog.

Happy Thanksgiving

I want to to wish all my friends and family a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you have a wonderful holiday with plenty of turkey. I am practicing eating turkey. Hopefully I will get a big juicy drumstick. Thursday we are going to Seminole, FL to spend Thanksgiving with Aunt Laura (Dad's sister) and Uncle Dave and their poodle, Rusty. I hope Rusty wants to play.

We are really enjoying our time here at Peace River. We have seen Stumpy the alligator, a majestic hawk, some deer and a wild pig. Early this morning, one of the wild pigs broke one of the park's water lines so we were without water for awhile. I am a little sad today as my friends Taffy and Snickers left today. It has been fun playing with them over the past six weeks at the various parks we have been to. Mom and Dad finally got to meet Judy and Bob, who they have corresponded with over the past year. Mom and Judy grew up in Emporium, PA so they have a lot of old times to talk about.

We will be at Peace River for one more week before we head back to the Suwannee River.

HAPPY VETERANS' DAY

Mom, Dad and I want to wish a happy Veterans' Day to all our veteran friends and family. We are so very proud of your service to our country.

We are now leaving the hustle and bustle of Orlando and the Disney World area to settle on the quiet banks of the Peace River in Wauchula, Florida. We will be here until December 1st enjoying the peace and quiet. My friends, Taffy and Snickers, are here also so I have them to play with. They are so much fun. Several other new friends we met in Orlando are also here.

Since we sold the trike, Dad has taken over the back room (garage area) of the trailer. Mom calls it,"the man room". Friends tell Dad he needs to get a small refrigerator for "the man room" so he can keep his beverage of choice cold. They even carpeted the room. I guess I want Dad to be comfortable so he will continue to help me with the blog.

Three, Two, One...BLAST OFF!! Mickey Too

Sunday we had a road trip to do some sightseeing. Our first stop was the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. What a place! I got to see a space shuttle, all the rockets NASA has used in the past and the Astronaut Memorial, honoring all of the astronauts who died doing NASA work. We also visited the Canaveral National Seashore in Titusville, FL. On our ride, I also got to see a four point buck, a wild pig and two alligators. This was a wonderful and exciting day for me. We still have one more week in the Orlando area, so stay tuned.

Today Mom and Dad went to Disney World. I didn't get to go but they did get me a Mickey Mouse chew toy to play with.

Florida Has Gators

I didn't know what an alligator was until Mom and Dad took me to the Alligator Farm in St Augustine, FL. Mom insisted we get a picture with a real live gator. Mom is holding a live 2 1/2 yr old rare white gator. Thank goodness his mouth was taped shut because I didn't want to be his lunch. It is reportedly good luck to touch a white gator.

We are now in the Orlando area for the next three weeks. My friends Taffy and Snickers are also here so I have some friends to play with. Mom and Dad's friends John & Marcia and Matt & Connie are here also. Mom and Dad plan to visit friends who live in the area. We also plan to do some sightseeing but I won't be allowed to visit with Mickey Mouse at Disney World. We will be going to the Kennedy Space Center. That should be a "real blast".

Today, Mom and Dad sold our Goldwing trike thus ending our motorcycling days. The manager of the RV park expressed an interest in the trike. He made them an offer that was too good to be true so they accepted. So much for my trike riding days. Now that they sold the trike, I hope they don't decide to go and change my name.

Way Down Upon The Suwannee River

Today we left Holt, FL and came to the Spirit Of The Suwanee Music Camp RV Resort on the banks of the famous Suwanee River near Live Oak, FL. Much to my surprise, my friends Taffy and Snickers were here waiting for me. It it great seeing them again and playing with them. They are so much fun. I will be able to play with them here in Florida at various parks for the next seven weeks. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

We enjoyed our time in Holt, FL. Mom and Dad got to spend a lot of time with their dear friends, Cliff and Dee Florence. They have been close friends for a long time. I also got to spend some time on the beach among the sea oats at the Gulf Islands National Seashore with the snow white sand.

BACK IN FLORIDA

Today we arrived back in my birth state of Florida. We will be in Florida for the next nine weeks. We really enjoyed our time in Louisiana visiting Harold and Nina Denton and their family. Mom enjoyed holding and feeding Harold and Nina's newest great-grand daughter. The Dentons really made us feel welcome.

Right now we are in Okaloosa County, Florida. This is the county where Mom and Dad were in the Air Force, met and got married. Both boys, David & Trevor, were born here and Dad was a cop here for more than 11 years. We will be here for 4 days then we head for the Suwanee River area to meet up with some of our RV friends, both two legged and four legged.

Hello From "Nawlins"

Hello everyone. Thursday we arrived in Abita Springs, Louisiana. We are at a nice quiet, secluded RV resort North of Lake Pontchartrain. Today we went to New Orleans to do some sightseeing. We toured the French Quarter and I got to eat some beignets at the famous Cafe Du Monde. The beignets were OK but I liked the powdered sugar best of all. I had so much powdered sugar on me I was almost all white. While in the French Quarter, Mom and Dad bought me some neat sunglasses. Don't I look cool with these shades on? We also found the grave site of the famous Voodoo Priestess Marie Laveau. Imagine a Voodoo priestess buried in a Catholic cemetery. We also toured the Chalmette Battlefield where in 1814 Colonel Jackson defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans.

Mom and Dad have been able to visit and spend some time with one of Dad's former colleagues, Harold Denton and his wife Nina. Dad and Harold talk about the "good old days" and some of the "not so good old days".

The weather here is beautiful but it is also love bug season and they are everywhere. Later folks!

Paddle Faster, I Hear Banjo Music !!!!

After two wonderful weeks in Oklahoma, we hit the road this morning. We had a great time at Grove, Oklahoma. Grove calls for a return visit. We got the defective landing gear on our trailer replaced. After a year of problems with it, it now works like it is supposed to so Mom and Dad are really happy about that. Mom and Dad did hit the casino one time in Grove. They joined the casino's players club and each got $5.00 free play. Because Mom's birthday is in September, she got an additional $20.00 free play. They played the penny slots for a few minutes and left happy with $37.00 in winnings. Aren't they the big gamblers? We are now headed for Abita Springs, Louisiana with two stops before we get there. Tonight we are at a fish camp park West of Little Rock, Arkansas. Dad thinks there are some similarities to "Deliverance" here. Tomorrow we will be spending the night in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mom and Dad say they really like Vicksburg with it's Civil War history. I will talk to you from Louisiana.
