Fun In Arizona

Hi everyone from sunny Arizona. At least today is sunny. The past two days have been wet and cold. We are really enjoying our time here in Verde Valley. I have made a lot of new friends and am enjoying playing with them. We have even met up with some people Mom used to work with in Florida. It definitely is a small world.
Yesterday we went to Phoenix to spend time with Mom and Dad's youngest son Trevor, who was is in town for a few days. Trevor gave Dad an early father's day gift of a GPS unit. So now maybe Dad won't get us so lost all of the time.
Today we visited Montezuma's Castle National Monument with our friends, Ron and Fran. This "castle" is a cliff dwelling, dating back to the 1200's, inhabited by the Sinagua people. Even though it is called Montezuma's castle, Montezuma was never here. It was given its' name by US soldiers returning from Mexico. The picture on the left is Mom and me in front of the "castle".
We then headed for Sedona to view all the beautiful red rock formations. The picture on the right is me and Dad in front of one. These are truly awesome sights.
We are now into our last week in Arizona. Next Friday, we head off to Utah.

The GRAND CANYON..... We Made It

Today, May 14th, we headed out to the Grand Canyon. On the way, Mom and Dad stopped to let me play in the snow that fell yesterday. That was so cool! I really enjoyed running in that cold white stuff. We made it to the Canyon without any problems. It was quite crowded there with all of us tourists. Thank goodness for Mom's Golden Access Pass, we didn't have to pay the $25 entry fee. The canyon is spectacular! It is an awesome sight to behold.....

Grand Canyon Visit......Postponed

We were planning to go to the Grand Canyon today but have had to postpone it. We woke up to rain in Verde Valley. In checking the weather reports, we found that Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon had 3 inches of snow overnight, with 5 more inches expected this morning. We will wait to visit the Canyon after the snow melts. Its hard to believe its snowing on May13th.

Yesterday, we did visit Oak Tree Canyon and Sedona. The red rock formations near Sedona are beautiful.

Take care and stay warm.

Verde Valley, Arizona

We left Albuquerque this morning and are now settled in at Verde Valley, AZ. As you can see from the picture, I did help Dad with the driving, making sure he didn't get us lost. What a beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay in Albuquerque, even though I was not allowed to go on a hot air balloon ride. This morning as we were leaving Albuquerque we saw 12 hot air balloons flying around. While in the Albuquerque area, we did ride up to Bandelier National Monument and got to see the cliff dwellings of the ancestral Pueblos, dating back to the 1400's. Mom and Dad rode the tramway up to the top of Sandia Peak. One day we saw some professional skateboarders come down the Scenic Byway from Sandia Peak. Man, were they moving. We also went to Ft Sumner and found the grave of Billy The Kid.
We are excited about arriving in Arizona. Mom and Dad have a lot planned so I will keep you informed as we see and do things.

"Gettin' My Kicks....On Route 66"

Yes folks, I am getting my kicks on Route 66 in Tijeras, New Mexico. We arrived here today under very windy conditions. This park is at an elevation of 6300 feet, so we are in the mountains, just East of Albuquerque. Its great to be on the road again. We love Texas, but after 4 months there, we were ready to leave.
I had a pleasant surprise when we arrived today. My buddy Jackson, a chihuahua/miniature pinscher, who I played with in Texas, was here to greet me. He is here with his Mom and Dad.
Mom and Dad are going to take me to Ft Sumner, NM next Monday to find the grave of Billy The Kid. Also, I'm hoping to go on a hot air balloon ride. I sure hope they allow dogs.
